Well here as promised is a list of the most recent artists added to CFRD’s playlist
John Eddie - On the roller coaster of his career so far, John Eddie has had enough big breaks, hard luck, new beginnings, false starts, serious adventure and big fun to inspire a boxed set’s worth of country songs. He’s had the sort of life - often hard-scrabble, occasionally charmed — that other artists only imagine, or have someone else write about for them. John has managed to document a lot of this on Who The Hell Is John Eddie?, his debut disc for Lost Highway, along with details of assorted dreams, wishes, romances, and regrets. He really has spent endless days and nights on the road, playing the “shit-hole bars” he so hilariously and accurately recalls. And he’s endured the heckling of alcohol-fueled patrons wanting to hear Skynyrd and Petty and demanding to know, Who The Hell Is John Eddie?.
Kat Parsons - The one-woman indie musical dynamo known as Kat Parsons has been in non-stop motion, her blossoming career in full-scale overdrive, since releasing her recording No Will Power, on March 29. The CD is distributed nationally by Cleopatra/Navarre. A wonderful singer and excellent songwriter
Walt Cronin, The Gousters - An engaging collection of folk rock tunes, Walt Cronin’s The Gousters is a homespun and charming effort. Warm, earthy sounds envelope the listener as Cronin delivers work that is solidly written with a compelling sincerity. Many of these songs are about war, often sounding like the contemporary answer to the folk protest songs of 1960s artists like Pete Seeger. With increasing frequency the term “alt-country” has now become a definition for those country artists not embraced by the hit driven, glossy pin-up version of country that Nashville currently sells with so much success. Really, the “alt” now means: where does it belong?
Sideroads - Sideroads is a contemporary mix of American roots music. An original band of singer songwriters who have been influenced by the great artists of rock, folk, country, and blues, and who continue to play, write, sing and record their own songs. Like most of their songs, they’ve got the dust of America embedded in their shoes. From their origins in Alabama, New York, Massachusetts and California, they have taken the side roads, built careers and families, but never stopped the music. They formed in 2007, and in Spring 2009 have released their first CD “Destinations”
Band Marino - Band Marino is a 5-piece rock band. They enjoy playing music and eating pizza. Now defunct, supposedly, they are an excellent addition to our playlist. Maybe they will get it back together, if not you can still hear them on CFRD
Blue Turtle Seduction - When Blue Turtle Seduction played their first show in 2001 it was… well… rough around the edges, sloppy, chaotic, and … one hell of a great time. From the beginning there was a raw and original sound, a clear and intense vibe, and the energy was through the roof.
