The storms are slacking off and we are now on the air more often than not. New artists and shows have been added to all three stations. CFR Old Time Radio is doing well and CFR Durango is doing much better. CFR Rock is just getting off the ground but we are getting more listeners with time. A list of new artists will be posted soon.
After several failed attempts at using a PAL script to run the scheduled syndicated show “Ghostly Talk Paranormal Radio Talk Show” we have found a new way to run the scheduled performance by using the event schedular in our broadcast software. This week will be the first run using this technique. Ghostly Talk - Paranormal Radio Talk Show airs every Satruday Night at 9:00 pm on CFR Durango. Here is a link to thier site.

Hope your summer is going well and your having the fun you deserve!! More from CFR later.
We are in to our third week of being off the air due to unsettling weather in our area. The storms have been quite unpredictable and loaded with lightning, because of this reason we have had all three of our stations off line. We have acquired a very nice surge UPS system but are waiting for the funds to purchase replacement batteries for it. We apologize to our loyal fans and to the new listeners who might have been wondering where we were. We hope the rash of consistent storms will abate soon so we can get back on the air soon. We hope you understand and come back to listen when we are back up. We have tried to work around the weather forecasts but even they have not been correct and fortunately our servers are in close proximity so we could shut down before the storms became severe. Once again we apologize and hope to be on the air soon.
CFRG would like to take this time to spotlight two of our oldest friends in the Music world. Bobby Bridger and Vince Bell. Both are renowned and well known musicians from Texas with very powerful tales to tell. CFRG highly recommends you visit these two incredible artists at their websites by clicking on the pictures. You will find two compelling stories and songs that will not disappoint you. We hope you get to know them as well as we have over the years.
Bobby Bridger
Bridger
An Autobiography
By Bobby Bridger
Renowned for A Ballad of the West, his epic trilogy about the American West from the era of mountain man Jim Bridger to the closing of the frontier, Bobby Bridger has had a career in show business that spans the rockabilly-to-”Music City, USA” era in Nashville, the cosmic cowboy scene in Austin, the flowering of folk music, and even Broadway theater. His multifaceted talents have found expression in singing, acting, writing, painting, and sculpting. In this engrossing account of the personal and artistic journey that led him to create a new American art form, the epic ballad, Bridger touches on almost every major musical, entertainment, and cultural movement of the second half of the twentieth century, with a cast of characters that reads like a “Who’s Who” of American popular culture.
Bridger’s story begins in a small town in northeast Louisiana, where he first experienced the twin attractions of painting and music. He recounts his early efforts to become a successful Nashville singer-songwriter and his growing awareness that the commercial music business would never support his evolving desire to become a historical balladeer. Bridger recalls how his interest in folk music and folk ballads fired his ambition to tell the story of the American West. He movingly describes how this dream eventually became A Ballad of the West, an epic trilogy about Jim Bridger, the Lakota Sioux, and Buffalo Bill that has taken form in an acclaimed cycle of songs, a one-man show, books, full-cast stage performances, and other media.
Included in the book is a DVD that offers songs from A Ballad of the West and a sample from the forthcoming documentary Quest of an Epic Balladeer, based on Bobby Bridger’s life and work.
In addition to his masterwork A Ballad of the West, which he performs in repertory across America, Bobby Bridger is the composer of “Heal in the Wisdom,” the anthem of the internationally famous Kerrville Folk Festival, and author of Buffalo Bill and Sitting Bull: Inventing the Wild West.
Vince Bell
The Life and Times of
Texas Songwriter Vince Bell

The University of North Texas Press has announced the publication of “One Man’s Music: The Life and Times of Texas Songwriter Vince Bell.” The book, a revised and greatly expanded edition of Bell’s acclaimed 1998 autobiography, is the latest in UNTP’s North Texas Lives of Musicians Series (previous volumes have been biographies of Townes Van Zandt and Blaze Foley).
In 1982, the promising singer/songwriter Vince Bell was broadsided by a drunk driver after he left the studio where he and Stevie Ray Vaughan had just recorded three of Bell’s songs. Bell spent a month in a coma and the next six years re-learning how to walk, talk, and play the guitar. Not only was his debut album waylaid for a dozen years, but his life would never be the same.
From the early Houston music scene and his first guitar, through 35 years and several recordings and tours later, the new book not only details his recovery from the accident and his roundabout climb back onstage, but shines a light in those dark corners of the music business that, for the lone musician whose success is measured not by the Top 40 but by nightly victories, usually fall outside of the spotlight. Bell’s prose is not unlike his lyrics: spare, beautiful, evocative, and often sneak-up-on-you funny. His chronicle of his own life and near death on the road reveals what it means to live for one’s art.
This is the story of a man and his instrument; of good times and bad, and the damage sustained and survived by both through decades of hard use.
—Richard Dobson

Vince Bell’s songs have been performed and recorded by such diverse talents as Little Feat, Lyle Lovett, and Nanci Griffith. In addition to releasing four critically acclaimed albums of his own, a ballet has been set to his work and his story turned into a musical. “Vince is a poet,” declared the late Townes Van Zandt.
Bell, who plays extensively in the U.S. and Europe, has appeared on such nationally broadcast television and radio programs as Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, World Café, In the Prime, Morning Edition, and several other NPR programs.
Over the past couple of years we have received many submissions to the station from some very talented musicians. A lot of the music we get is just a little too much on the Rock side for the stations format. We like Rock, we just don’t play a lot of the harder stuff. Well that’s about to change, the station management has decided to start Colorado Free Radio Rock, a new addition to our family of stations, podcasts, blogs and vlogs. As this is being written, the server is being set up and the domain has been created for the stations site. We hope to have CFRR up and running in the next couple of months if not sooner. So this is a call to all you Indie Rock/Rock artists to send us your stuff, Rock, Blues, R&B, Metal, Hard Rock, Rock and Roll, if it’s rock we want to hear it, and put it on the air. The new site is,

Hope to see you there when we’re up and running. An announcement will be made when that time comes.

Now, at the age of 28, Kagan makes his home and his music in Boulder, CO. “The Rocky Mountains are the source of my music,” says Kagan. Sebastian Lorifice - Keyboardist and composer Sebastian Lorefice has been an active and well respected member of Australia’s musical community for the last fifteen years. Based in Melbourne his career has encapsulated two streams of achievement. The first, a career as an educator and academic that has spanned a decade. Songs For Our Soldiers - Multiple Grammy winners Jon Carroll, Cathy Fink and Jim Robeson have joined forces with Baltimore singing sensation, Amanda Olsavsky, and New York recording artist, Ben Carroll, in a musical tribute to our fighting troops and those who wait for them. While avoiding an overt political statement about the war, “Songs For Our Soldiers” asks us to reflect upon the personal costs paid by those who heed our Nation’s call for service.

Politically Erect - Politically Erect is a four member Rock band with Blues and Country influences. The band is comprised of Paul Zulas (Lead Guitar & Vocals), Larry Hay (Rhythm Guitar & Vocals), Dave Anderson (Bass Guitar) and Robby Hoffman (Drums). Their music is different because the Hard Rock genre guitar riffs are played on acoustic guitar. While their original compositions do address social and political issues at times, the focus is the music itself. With catchy Rock melodies and homespun Blues progressions, hot Lead Guitar weaves its way through a steady rhythm section backed by thundering Bass Guitar and blistering Percussion.

Michael Macri - Michael Macri is a renowned singer/songwriter in the Melbourne music scene. Hailing from Brunswick, Victoria, his songs are classic rock/pop songs which cross a number of genres, from classic ballads to rock alternative. His music has been influenced by the music melting pot of the late 60’s through to 70’s heavy metal, glam, dance and 80’s new romantics. Other influences include the American East and West coast sounds of the 70’s and 80’s. His distinctive voice captures the best of these influences and transforms them into his own unique style. For over 20 years he has been generating a loyal following of dedicated music lovers.

The Beautiful Loser Society - Steeped in the finest traditions of American music, The Beautiful Loser Society inhabits the space in time when Hank Sr. defined country music, and a young truck driver from Tupelo named Elvis was busy laying the foundations of rock ‘n roll. While fully embracing these classic musical tenants, The Beautiful Loser Society brings a thoroughly modern perspective to their music. It’s a long road from the swamps of the Mississippi Delta to the high desert plateau of Southwest Colorado, but it is rife with the characters and events that inform the songs of Chuck Barry and The Beautiful Loser Society. We feature songs from the BLS’s CD Aim Low

Well the summer thunderstorms have started and both CFRD and CFROTR are off the air periodically. We apologize to our listeners but because of lightning and the fact that we have lost three modems over the last 4 years, we shut down our servers during the storms. We still try to be on the air when we can but due to the sporadic nature of the storms we will be off and on. We appreciate your patience and this only happens during the months of July/August.
On another note (no pun intended) we have added more music to the play list and will be adding more soon. Here is a list of the most recent additions to our family of musicians.
Casper Loma Da Wa - The Sounds of Reality, Casper is a Hopi Musician who has made his mark in the Reggae world and has become quite a legend in his own right. With a strong commitment to preserving his culture and creating a new sound called Hopi Land Reggae, Casper has produced this group of songs presenting many Native musicians and other artists, on his label Third Mesa Music.

Jake Ziah - A band from Oslo Norway is an eclectic alternative mix of sounds that will take you to many places. Well known in Europe they have toured the continent and England. If we had to label them you could call the music Folk/Rock/Alternative/Country/Vocals and so on and so on…. You judge for yourself

Mad Tea Party - From Asheville North Carolina in their own words “Mad Tea Party brews up roots music, retro-pop and rock ‘n’ roll to create a fresh and intoxicating sound. Ami Worthen and Jason Krekel serve up an exciting live show to music lovers thirsty for upbeat, original refreshment. Rich harmonies glide over electrified ukulele, juke-joint guitar, scratchy fiddle and pulsing foot percussion. Songs about love, life, death and dancing are steeped in raw rockabilly with shreds of doo wop and devilish blues. Mad Tea Party concocts a musical recipe that is familiar yet unusual.”
